Cap

The cap is conceived as a small Venetian mosaic. Glass tiles from the historic Orsoni Venezia 1888 furnace are placed side by side like fragments of solidified light. Each tile is born from the fire of the furnace and is then hand-cut according to an ancient tradition, the same one that has nourished the art of Venetian mosaic for over a century. The surface is not perfectly regular: it vibrates, reflects and captures light with those small irregularities that make the mosaic alive, almost pictorial.

These glass fragments recall the mosaic floors and decorations of Venetian churches, where color is born from the patient combination of countless tiles. In this balance of matter and light, however, an unexpected detail appears: the tile in the bottom right is made of 24-karat gold.

This is not a simple gilding. In the Venetian mosaic tradition, the gold leaf is enclosed between two thin layers of glass fused together, so that the precious metal remains protected and at the same time intensely luminous. The result is a warm, deep light, capable of changing and vibrating with every movement.

It is the same principle that illuminates the mosaics of Saint Mark's Basilica, where the gold reflects the light and transforms the surfaces into a luminous expanse that is almost immaterial.

Thus this cap becomes a small fragment of Venice: glass born of fire, cut by hand and placed side by side as in an ancient mosaic, with a gold point that ignites the composition like a precious spark. A tiny detail, but loaded with the same luminous matter that has told the greatness of the city for centuries.
